on the Met’s “Infinite Jest”

really enjoyed the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit “Infinite Jest.” it was inspiring to see the different techniques artists have used to create satirical works, techniques that we continue to use today in caricature - exaggeration of features, fun and intricate line work, animated facial expressions. visual art can extend the humor of a joke and create a more sensory experience for a reader. what i’ve come to appreciate about caricature is that it evokes lightness in its uplifting and comical content yet remains serious as a beautiful and delicate art form.
